'Grey's Anatomy': Kissing up to fly solo
It's Big Solo Surgery Week on Grey's Anatomy, and as usual our merry band of residents are all angling to fly solo for the first time. But even though Cristina was unanimously chosen by the attendings, last week's inanely stupid debacle with the self-operating/mutilating interns has disqualified her from the running. So the Chief, eager to Teach A Lesson, makes Cristina choose the winner from among her peers. And because said interns are also banned from the OR, the winner will pick a fellow resident to scrub in as well.

'Grey's Anatomy': Lexie goes rogue surgeon in the basement
The Grey's Anatomy Meredith Grey Voiceover this week is about adult monsters: self-doubt, regret, etc. It leads us into Denny and Izzie getting to do something they never got to do in real life. And the clothes come off! Bomp-chicka-wah-wah. Continue Reading

'Grey's Anatomy': I love you, I always have. Ditto.
I'm guest-blogging for two shows tonight and one of them is Grey's Anatomy. I'll be honest... I was head-over-heels for this show when it first started. The writing was strong, the acting was great and the storylines were interesting. It lost me a little with the we-have-no-chemistry-whatsoever-couple of George and Izzie happened. But Mary McDonnell is guest-starring now and she rules the school, so let's see what is happening tonight at Seattle Grace... Continue Reading

'Grey's Anatomy': Show some respect
We've always known that the interns and residents at Seattle Grace are immature and self-involved, in addition to being talented, but this week's Grey's Anatomy really drove that point home. And it also showed very clearly what kind of toll that an odd turn of writing can have on a character.

'Grey's Anatomy': First do no harm
One thing that Grey's Anatomy does so well when it's on its game (and it was tonight) is show with perfect clarity the relationship between what's going on inside a person to how they act toward others. And this week we got that in spades -- from the Chief, Hahn, Callie, Meredith, and the latest addition to Seattle Grace: Major Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd), the new trauma chief.

TV Things I'm Not Thankful for . . .
In honor of Thanksgiving, I could write a column about all the TV things I’m thankful for. Like I’m thankful that Lost, Scrubs and 24 will all be back in January. Or I’m so thankful that it actually looks like the Arrested Development movie is going to happen (remember there's always money in the banana stand). And, of course, I’m thankful that Little J wiped off her bad eye makeup on Gossip Girl (although I am strangely indifferent to who Nate ends up with, how about you?).

Oh how you get on my last remote control . . . TV's Most Annoying Characters
It occurred to me that this season with Annie (Shenae Grimes) on 90210, Meredith on Grey’s Anatomy and Dr. Brenner of ER, it’s kind of raining annoying characters on TV.
